By accessing and using Hjólum ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. Hjólum is a community platform for cyclists in Iceland, providing tools for group organization, route sharing, meetup planning, and tournament management.
2. User Accounts
To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
3. User Conduct
When using Hjólum, you agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory
- Harass, intimidate, or threaten other users
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Share false or misleading information about routes or events
- Use the Service for any commercial purposes without our consent
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Upload malicious code or interfere with the Service's operation
4. Content Ownership
Your Content: You retain ownership of content you post to Hjólum, including routes, messages, and profile information. By posting content, you grant Hjólum a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content within the Service.
Our Content: The Hjólum name, logo, and all related graphics, software, and features are owned by Hjólum or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
5. Routes and Safety
Routes shared on Hjólum are user-generated content. We do not verify the accuracy, safety, or legality of any routes. When cycling:
- Always assess routes yourself before riding
- Follow all local traffic laws and regulations
- Wear appropriate safety gear
- Consider weather and terrain conditions
- Ride within your skill level
Hjólum is not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or damages that may occur during cycling activities.
6. Tournaments and Events
Tournament organizers are responsible for their events. Hjólum provides tools for organization but is not responsible for the conduct of tournaments, including but not limited to: entry fees, prizes, safety measures, or compliance with local regulations. Participants join events at their own risk.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Map data is provided by third-party services and may not always be accurate.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hjólum shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or loss of data, arising from your use of the Service.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may also delete your account at any time through your profile settings.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
